How Do I Grill the Perfect Burger?

How Do I Grill the Perfect BurgerGreat burgers come in all shapes and sizes. Some are thick and some are thin. Some weighing a half pound or more and other weight less than a ¼ pound. Some are perfect spheres, while others look a bit bumpy and odd. What your patties look like doesn’t matter all that much, what does matter is how you grill them. That may leave you wondering, how do I grill the perfect burger? Here are a few tips:

  • Heat your grill to medium heat. You don’t want it too hot or the outside of your patty will cook faster than your inside, leaving you with a dry burger.
  • Cook your patties slowly for best results.
  • Never use your spatula to press down on a cooking hamburger patty. This squeezes the fat (and the flavor) from the meat.
  • Only flip your burgers once or twice during the cooking process
  • Watch for flare-ups. Flames will overcook a good hamburger patty.
  • After removing your burger from the grill, let stand for 2-4 minutes to allow the juices to settle in the meat, making a much more delicious patty.
